Narooma

Perched high in the secluded hills above Narooma, this Japanese-style farmhouse was created through a close partnership with its builder-owner, a master craftsman and joiner. Built using imported Japanese Sen timber, the design process centred on understanding the unique topography of the land and the tactile qualities of the wood. Celebrating ancient construction techniques, the home relies on traditional joinery, including custom dovetail joints which allow the timber structure to fit together gracefully with little to no visible fixings.
